Join Alliance for Justice for a legal workshop on Wednesday, July 22 to learn how your nonprofit can bring the concerns of your community to policy makers and elected officials and help inform and encourage voters safely.
Immigration, fair wages, access to healthcare, state revenues, and environmental issues – these are just a few of the critical issues elected officials are debating. They need to hear the voices of your organization and your community!
In the workshop, we will cover the relevant laws to help your 501(c)(3) organization advocate without worry:
- The difference between the definitions of lobbying under federal tax law and California’s lobbying and ballot measure disclosure laws
- How to create a recordkeeping system for tracking 501(c)(3) lobbying expenditures
- How to educate your community about candidates and encourage voting while remaining nonpartisan
During lunchtime, we’ll be hosting a panel discussion featuring nonprofit practitioners who navigate these rules every day.
When: Wednesday, July 22, 9:00 am – 3:00 p.m.
Where: The California Endowment
1000 N. Alameda Street, Catalina Room
Los Angeles, CA 90012
Cost: $10 (includes light morning refreshments and lunch. Please contact us if you have special dietary requirements.)
