Environmental Health Workgroup

In order to strengthen collaboration and community organizing in, Building Healthy Communities facilitates workgroups focused on different priorities outlined in our Community Action Plan. The workgroups are spaces to connect and empower community organizations and residents to define, implement, and advocate for improved community safety and health.

This group is comprised of organizations and others working to improve environmental health in Long Beach.  Current campaigns that they are working on include the I-710 freeway expansion, the BNSF SCIG rail yard expansion, and ongoing work with the Port of Long Beach.

This group is designed to connect resident groups and practitioners to work on the general plan, bikeability and walkability, open space, and complete street efforts. Some of their current efforts: including health policies in the City of Long Beach’s General Plan, and increasing access to open space (parks).
